About the author
Charles Henri Ford was an American poet, novelist, editor, filmmaker, photographer, and visual artist whose work crossed the literary and visual avant-gardes. With Parker Tyler he wrote The Young and Evil, an irreverent portrait of queer Greenwich Village life that challenged conventional form and sexual respectability. Ford edited the influential magazine View and moved freely among poetry, collage, photography, and film. Archival references sometimes give 1913 as his birth year; the Poetry Foundation and Mississippi Encyclopedia give 1908, which is used here with the discrepancy noted.
