About the author
Dorothy Bussy (née Strachey) was an English writer and translator whose novel Olivia turns a girls’ school into a precise study of memory, affection, and awakening. Written in the 1930s but not published until 1949, the novel drew on Bussy’s own school experience and her relationship with former headmistress Marie Souvestre. Bussy also translated works by her brother Lytton Strachey and André Gide.
