About the author
Jo Sinclair was the pen name of American novelist Ruth Seid. Her fiction follows the private costs of prejudice, inherited trauma, and family loyalty, often centering people pushed to the edges of their communities. The Changelings and Wasteland belong to a broader body of work that includes novels, a play, and memoir; they reward readers interested in the social worlds surrounding, as well as the queer lives within, the 1999 list.
