About the author
Ronald Firbank was an English modernist novelist whose compressed, dialogue-driven fiction turns social manners into a comic and theatrical art. His short novels move through religious, aristocratic, and bohemian circles, using rhythm, implication, and extravagant speech rather than conventional plot. Cardinal Pirelli, his final novel, is among the works that made Firbank an enduring point of reference for later queer writers.
