About the author
Violette Leduc was a French writer whose intensely personal prose brought women’s desire, social shame, and bodily experience into open literary view. Her work was repeatedly cut and reshaped by publishers, especially Ravages, whose opening section was later restored and published as Thérèse et Isabelle. The literary estate and research association continue to document the history of her books and their editions.
