| Log Cabin Republicans | "Log Cabin Republicans is the nation's largest gay and lesbian Republican organization, with over 50 chapters across the country, a national office staff in Washington, DC. and a federal political action committee which raises $100,000 per election cycle for Republican candidates. Log Cabin was founded to battle the nation's first anti-gay ballot measure -- California's Proposition 6 in 1978. The first Log Cabin activists enlisted Ronald Reagan to publically oppose the measure, which was then defeated. Since then, Log Cabin Republicans has grown and expanded to become a leading voice on the national stage on behalf of the mainstream concerns of the gay and lesbian community." National Stonewall Democrats (NSD), with more than 70 local chapters, is America’s only grassroots Democratic lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender organization.
