Shannon Amos is the daughter of veteran
actor John Amos and sister to director K.C. Amos. Raised in the
entertainment industry, Shannon began her career as a teenager,
working as an actress on an episode of ABC-TV's "After School
Special", standing in for Cynda Williams in Spike Lee's Mo' Better
Blues (1990) and acting in David E. Talbert's film, A Woman Like That
(1997).
Upon graduation, Shannon went to work
as a Production Coordinator and ultimately segment producer of the FOX
hit TV show "America's Most Wanted" (1988). Shannon later went to work
for BET (Black Entertainment Television) and developed, wrote and
produced Original Programming for BET's Pay-Per-View Network. Shannon
has most recently freelanced as a writer/producer for such networks as
ABC, Lifetime, Playboy and Warner Bros. She recently co-wrote and
produced an independent urban comedy feature film entitled The
Watermelon Heist (2003), starring her father John Amos, Max Perlich,
Rudy Ray Moore, 'JB Smoove' and numerous BET and Def Comedy Jam
Comics. The film is scheduled for release in the summer of 2003.
