Award winning
screenwriter and best-selling author, Deardria Adri Enne Nesbitt has
been writing fantasies about strong black women since the age of nine.
Now mature in age and young at heart, she continues the fantasies with
a semi-autobiographical zest that even makes her giggle when she reads
her own material.
Her "to the point, erotic, yet classy
style" made her the perfect person to write forewords for the erotic
romance, Linger by Trish Carter, A Deeper Love by Shonia Brown and
Wetdreams, the hot new coffee table book by infamous, award-winning,
female photographer, Rundu. She has also accompanied Rundu on several
photo shoots to capture an even better perspective of the project.
As well as her writing growth in
novels, Ms. Nesbitt aspires to return to her roots of writing for
film, TV and the stage with a passion to portray the beautiful and
sensual side of women of color, as well as women who love women.
With a vision of seeing empowered women
on the screen, she is driven to her ultimate goal and dream of
pioneering an academy award for best script in the near future. She
has completed and produced a stage play and short film stripped from
the pages of her novel series. She has won a best screenplay award in
a short film competition, and is currently working on several major
scripts to be ready for production in film, TV and the stage. As a
member of the growing Atlanta Film & Video community, Deardria is
Filmmaker Relations for the Independent Black Film Festival and
Communications Liason for Women in Film. With the continued success of
her initial book project, 3 The Hard Way, Ms. Nesbitt completed
another project which consisted of a play and short movie, based on
the sexy Girls Around the Way series called Powyr Plays.
Receiving such an overwhelming positive response from everyone who has
experienced the hilariously, yet dramatic endeavor, Deardria got the
fever for producing her own media projects, whether she had to write,
produce, direct, shoot and even edit in order to complete her unique
ventures.
In 2002, she collaborated on a musical
CD with two authors using an excerpt from Back in the Day and
in 2003, she celebrated her company
BooksbyGATeWAY by producing a limited release video business card.
In addition to her erotic book projects, Ms. Nesbitt’s company also
assists people in self-publishing their own books. "The days of having
to have a big publishing house tied to your project are over," she
says. She has facilitated workshops and sat on panels teaching and
discussing the new successful market of self-publishing.
