Lambda Literary Gay Men's Debut Fiction Awards
Shirtlifter is a self-published series. The first
issue debuted at the the 2006
Alternative Press Expo
in San Francisco.
Basically a self-contained short story named "Unmade Beds", it concerns an
expatriate gay couple stationed in Japan and how the resulting
cross-cultural adjustment tests their relationship. The comic takes place
during one 24-hour period and illustrates the influence that sexuality,
parity, and economics have on gay male relationships. But hopefully its not
as dry as it sounds.
