Marketing and Management)
Michele Karlsberg Marketing and Management specializes in
print and electronic media, for the mainstream, lesbian, gay and
feminist market. Creating press releases, press kits and cover
letters; targeting mailing lists from an extensive database;
networking with freelance writers for interviews. Assistance with
post production, consumer marketing, advertising campaigns, direct
marketing to bookstores, U.S. and foreign distribution contacts.
Promotional tours, special events, conference planning and author
appearances.
Michele Karlsberg brings a unique combination of
skills to effectively carry out publicity/marketing campaigns for
authors, organizations and film/theater professionals. She has worn
many hats in her twenty-three year book publishing career . She was
recently presented with the Publishing Triangle Leadership Award and
was also inducted into the Saints and Sinners Literary Hall Of Fame
in New Orleans. Along with Olivia Travel, she produced the first
Olivia Book Expo on the Holland America Cruise Line.
As curator of Outspoken, a nationwide gay and lesbian literary
series, she helps new and established voices reach a wider audience.
She is co-editor of
To Be Continued
and To Be Continued, Take Two
(Firebrand Books). Her first piece published to be published in the
anthology Love, Christopher Street ( June 2012). Before
turning to publicity more than 23 years ago, Karlsberg was
co-founder of Amethyst Press, described by Sarah Schulman as having
published "the most interesting collection of gay male writing in
the history of our literature. As a publicist, Karlsberg has worked
with

Anthony Bidulka,
Jewelle Gomez,
Felice Picano,
Ellen Hart,
Katherine V. Forrest, and
Martin Duberman, among others.
