Timothy State grew up in
the Pacific Northwest, attending college in the Midwest at Lake Forest
College and completing a ten-year tour in the capital of the South,
Atlanta. He no longer knows how to pronounce anything. In 2004, Timothy
was recognized as one of Georgia’s “Newest and Most Promising Writers”
by the O, Georgia! Writers Foundation. His blog, “Balancing
Boyfriends” has been highlighted by The Bottom Line Magazine
as a “Best Gay Blog,” and by HomoMojo.com’s “Best of Gay Blogging.” His
video work has been featured in Image Film and Video’s “Shorts Slam!”,
and his “Postcards from Graceland”—perspectives from a road trip to the
20th Anniversary Commemoration of Elvis Presley’s passing—has been
adapted for the stage by an Atlanta theatre company.

Love, Bourbon Street: A Celebration of Gay New Orleans (2006),
Greg Herren and
Paul J. Willis, eds.)
-- Winner 2006 Lambda Literary Award
for
Anthologies
"It is a great honor that two of my
stories have been included in a new anthology celebrating the
surviving spirit of a city devastated.
Love, Bourbon Street: A Celebration of Gay New Orleans, a
collection of stories and poems that capture the eclectic spirit of
the city—before, during and after
Hurricane
Katrina.
I am flattered to be included in the pages of this beautiful book
introduced by New York Times
best-selling author Patricia
Nell Warren. I share space between the covers with award-winning
authors such as Martin Poussan,
acclaimed gay and lesbian writers
Amie M. Evans, Greg Herren,
Martin Hyatt, and
Paul J. Willis. And in a
category all his own, Toni Amato, who I
affectionately refer to as, “Dude, my gender-free writing coach.”
Described as “Powerful” by Ian
Philips, editor-in-chief of
Suspect Thoughts Press,
“No Chance” recalls a tragic
New Orleans foam party injury, appearing as an enhanced version of a
previously published story on my
Balancing Boyfriends blog.
“The Crease in My Palm,” not published in any form until now
explores the intersection between expectation and desire influenced
by the intuition of a palm reader. This particular story fueled a
debate turned argument firing up a cold February evening with my
NewTown
Writers group
meetings;
the gay men wanted more sauce and the lesbian women wanted more
intellect.
I hope you will seek out this book to decide for yourself, and at
the same time enjoy many fine writers I’m privileged to call my
peers."
